Some of our favorite things in life find their origins in a happy accident of sorts, and that’s precisely how Berry Wild Sangria came to be! Think of it this way: Denny and one of the other winemakers brought in a whole tank of Riesling, dumped sugar into it like they normally do… only to find out that fermentation had never been finished at all. Oops! The tank was too sweet, and Denny reasoned no one would drink it. He nearly poured the gift down the drain.
But Rhonda, one of our brave founders, had a better idea. “What else do we have for juice?” she asked. Through a little trial and error, the first non-varietal from our stable of good ideas was born—Berry Wild Sangria and we’ve been jammin’ ever since.
This semi-sweet fruity blend combines the juicy flavors of ripened raspberries, with premium blueberries bringing a rich sweetness, while the apples will take you back to granny’s delicious apple pie, and the grapes will leave a lingering taste in your mouth of an ocean spray. It’s multilayered, juicy and just sweet enough to make you want more. Take one sip and you’ll be lounging in a beach chair, basking in the sun with sand between your toes.

And it all began right here, on our soil. We opened Deer Creek Winery in 2009 right on our family’s 100 acre farm in beautiful Western Pennsylvania. Long before there were tasting rooms and wedding venues, our family’s weekend escape was this property — now also ground to Brooks Estate. We camped there every opportunity we had, among the woods and the stories, and lots of laughter.
