Let us present to you a classic Deer Creek Winery favorite – Fawn Catawba. It’s another of our originals, a favorite of our founder Rhonda Brooks and a hit with so many other guests who enjoy something deliciously sweet, beautifully blushed, and perfectly porch sipable. It’s pronounced kuh-TAW-buh (we know you’re not the only one who’s wondered!), this wine is infused with the tradition and passion of our Pennsylvania heritage.
Fawn Catawba is a semi-sweet blush wine created from the fabulous Catawba grape famous for its pretty in pink color and rose petal bouquet. It’s like a sweet rosé, essentially — light, fruity, and just sweet enough to sip on its own or with a light meal. It’s that glass you grab as the sun’s setting, your feet are up, and the breeze is the right amount of breeze.
The wine takes its name from the abundant white tail fawns who silently roam our vineyards in the cool of the evening, adding tranquility to the natural beauty of our Shippenville country estate. In 2022, we brought that inspiration to the label itself with a glorious new design by Alabama artist Anna Callison. It’s taken from an actual photo of the courtyard sandwiched between the Inn and the Manor House at Brooks Estate—our 100-acre estate that is smothered with twinkle lights, firepits, intimate café, ceremony spaces and 13 guest rooms that you just can’t live without.
And, when you drink Fawn Catawba, you’re not just drinking wine — you’re entering a moment. Peace and connection and joy in a moment. Enjoying this wine while at a Brooks Estate visit or popping a bottle at home, it’s a wine that conjures up gentle countryside charm and summer evening warmth.
